The SHOW TOOLS command reveals, and the HIDE TOOLS command conceals, the buttons that can be used instead of the menus. The HIDE TOOLS button, when it is visible, is located just beneath the lower left corner of the slide's "frame", and has the "windowshade" icon shown at the upper left of the card you're looking at now. Clicking it will cause the windowshade to "roll down", and all the command buttons will disappear.
